What Melt Is
Melt is a productivity and focus timer app. Users choose a melting object, set a focus intention, start a timed session, block distracting apps during the session, and may write a reflection afterward. Melt is not a medical, therapy, mental health treatment, or healthcare app.
Data Melt Collects
Melt may collect or store the following information:
- Email address and authentication identifiers when you sign in.
- Google sign-in identity data provided by the authentication provider.
- Session data, including duration, start and end timestamps, completion status, streaks, focus mode, selected ritual object, and distraction attempt counts.
- User-provided text, including focus intentions, journal reflections, and personal intervention messages.
- Onboarding and preference data, including study goal, daily goal, usual study time, seriousness level, accent color, haptics setting, blocked app list, and onboarding answers.
- Installed app information on Android, including app names, package names, and icons. This is used only to show a selectable block list and block user-selected apps during focus sessions.
- Purchase and subscription status from Google Play and RevenueCat.
- Device and app technical data needed for app functionality, security, diagnostics, and crash troubleshooting if collected by service providers.
Data Melt Does Not Collect
- No precise location.
- No contacts.
- No photos, videos, or files.
- No health data.
- No financial account numbers or credit card numbers handled by Melt. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.
- No advertising ID for ads.
How Data Is Used
Melt uses data for:
- App functionality, including timers, sessions, and Focus Guard.
- Account management and sign-in.
- Subscription entitlement management.
- User-requested focus blocking.
- Saving progress, streaks, journals, and preferences.
- Security, debugging, diagnostics, and support.
Service Providers
Melt uses service providers to operate the app:
- Supabase for authentication and account infrastructure.
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management.
- Google Play Billing for purchases and subscription billing.
Data Sharing
Melt shares data only with service providers needed to operate the app, when required for legal compliance, or when needed for user-requested support. Melt does not sell personal data. Melt has no ads and does not use ad networks.
Melt does not sell installed-app inventory, does not use installed-app data for ads, and does not share installed-app inventory for analytics or advertising.
Security
Data transmitted to service providers is encrypted in transit where applicable. Much of the focus and session data may be stored locally on your device. No app or service can guarantee absolute security, but Melt uses practical measures appropriate for the data it handles.
Android Permissions
Melt requests Android permissions only to provide features you choose to use:
- Usage Access: used to detect when selected distracting apps are opened during active focus sessions.
- Display over other apps: used to show the focus intervention overlay when a selected blocked app is opened.
- Installed app visibility: used to let you choose apps to block.
- Notifications and foreground service: used to keep active focus blocking reliable during a focus session.
Account Deletion
You can request account deletion at Delete account. If available in your version of the app, you can also go to Profile or Settings > Delete app data/account.
Account deletion removes account-associated data controlled by Melt. Local data stored on your device may need to be deleted in the app, by uninstalling Melt, or by clearing app data in Android settings.
Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall Melt, or clear app data. Account and subscription records may be retained as needed for billing, security, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Children
Melt is intended for users age 13 and older. Melt is not directed to children under 13.
