Permissions FAQ
Why Usage Access?
Usage Access lets Melt detect when you open a user-selected distracting app during an active focus session. Melt uses this only for the blocking feature you choose to enable.
Why Display over other apps?
Display over other apps lets Melt show the focus intervention overlay when a selected blocked app is opened during a focus session.
Why installed app visibility?
Installed app visibility lets Melt show app names, package names, and icons so you can choose which apps to block. Melt does not sell this app inventory, use it for ads, or share it for analytics or advertising.
Why notifications?
Notifications and foreground service behavior help keep active focus blocking reliable while a selected focus session is running.
Reviewer Note
Melt's blocking features require these Android permissions only for user-selected focus sessions. Users choose the apps to block, can stop a session, and can disable permissions in Android settings.
